How do I know the money donated to Thinkfrog.org will purchase actual rainforests?

Thinkfrog.org will be documenting all money donated on the site. You'll see via Google maps the forests purchased through Cool Earth. Local monitors organized by Cool Earth report on the preservation of the forests. We'll showcase photos of the forests we preserve on the site as we get them. Thinkfrog, with your help, is committed to making a positive impact on the climate and will be transparent in reporting how the funds are allocated to Cool Earth.

Why do the rainforests affect me? Isn't there something I could do locally?

Rainforest destruction over the next four years will release more global warming carbon than all airline travel combined since the beginning of flight through 2025. While it's still important to look at ways to save energy at home, through using compact flourescents and recycling, the fact is that global warming is happening at a far greater pace than scientists previously thought. We must act now to tackle the biggest impacts. Together through organizations such as Thinkfrog, we can make a bigger impact than we can on our own.

But why is forest destruction so bad - don't they need the land for farming?

Deforestation is extremely bad because of the amount carbon released through burning and the fact that there are then fewer trees to absorb the increasing amounts of carbon pumped into the atmosphere every year. This compounds and increases the pace of global warming.

Why the rainforests? Why not local forests in the United States?

Because the rainforests are being destroyed at such an alarming rate - over 1 acre per second. Through Cool Earth, we have the ability to help preserve them. Rainforests also contain an incredible, diverse collection of plants and wildlife that are threatened and destroyed in the process. The added bonus of preserving the rainforests to help prevent increased global warming is saving endangered wildlife. The forests are worth more standing than destroyed.

Why the urgency?

Because the polar ice is melting at a far greater rate than previously thought. Global warming is not a distant threat. It's happening NOW. And if we don't take big steps within the next five to ten years to slow or reduce the rise in temperature, we may reach the tipping point - and not be able to control it. Global warming is real. It's now. That's why we creating Thinkfrog.org - to do more as a community than on our own.

How long will my image(s) be live on the site?

A minimum of five years. Global warming is a huge problem that will take years to get under control. To do so, we must act fast. That said, Thinkfrog is not stopping at just 10 Million Trixels - that's our initial goal. We'll be continuing the fight against Global warming as long as it remains a critical problem, tackling the biggest elephants in the room.

How will the recipients of each Toyota Prius be determined?

Each time we reach a 100,000 faces milestone, we'll select an individual at random from each group of 100,000 images. For example, a Prius will be awarded at each 100,000 images - 10 Prius's total. The determination of the individual identified for will be made by Thinkfrog.org and will be final. Offer is void wherever prohibited by law and is valid only in the the Continental US and Canada.

If I'm one of the Prius recipients, how will I receive the car?

Thinkfrog.org will arrange for local delivery (Continental United States and Canada only). We will do our best to personally be there. Recipient is responsible for licensing and insurance and any applicable taxes.

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

⁃ Prius offer void where prohibited by law.
⁃ Determination of Prius recipients are made by Thinkfrog.org and all decisions are final. Offer good in Continential U.S. and Canada only.
⁃ You cannot change the image once submitted, so you must be sure of the image(s) you submit.
⁃ There are no refunds - Global warming is real and now. Your donations directly help preserve rainforest land. We cannot return any forests that have been destroyed and farmed. The soil is depleted in as little as four years, resulting in more forest destruction for new farm land.
⁃ The site and will be online for at least 5 years from launch
⁃ No obscene/offensive/adult images will be accepted and Thinkfrog.org decides what is appropriate. If you submit an image that is rejected, you will have the opportunity to provide an alternative, otherwise your image will not be included, but your donation will still support the fight against global warming.
⁃ Thinkfrog.org makes no warranties for accuracy expressed or implied.
⁃ Images must be horizontal, and saved in JPEG format at a reasonable file size.
⁃ Images must NOT be animated.
⁃ Thinkfrog.org reserves the right to use images submitted for a companion exhibit in either electronic or printed means as well as for promoting the Million Faces Project and Thinkfrog.org programs in either electronic or printed means. Copyright remains with image owner.
⁃ One image per $10 donation; no limit on either.
⁃ You must have the authority to provide the image(s) you submit.
⁃ Payment must be received and cleared before your image(s) go live
⁃ There may be occasional downtime for site maintenence.
